All the Christmas shopping is done..

So I took my life in my hands today, and ventured into the West End for my annual pilgrimage to those cathedrals of consumerism to buy crap for my family they will never need....read more.

But before I got my fill of socks, toiletries and gift vouchers I took the opportunity to pop down to Manette St. to see Mr. Foggs Pop Up Shop, I mentioned it on the blog the other day, and find out just what the fuck it was all about.

In what a quickly realised was the place I bought my first guitar, one of the rising number of empty lots in the West End (the recession eh!) was taken over by a man, a woman, 2 keyboards and a giant harp, and beautiful music was made (there's a little example to download below).

I had a chat with Mr. Fogg after his performance, and he says he's been playing there for the last 4 days, sadly today was the last, but for each performance, there's been a steady stream of people coming in, just passing traffic, for each "show".

While it's not going to set you up for retirement, it's an interesting way of getting people interested, who may not have been aware of him beforehand. While the amount of money made from t-shirts, vinyl and badges might not make up enough to pay the rent on the vacant lot, it's a clever idea that deserves a bit of attention.

As I walked through some of the more affluent parts of town later on, s'how I roll Mayfair-stylee, I noticed a 100,000 square foot empty store round by Savile Row. Just a  little thought grenade for all those international superstars that are probably reading this now.

PS I fuckin' hate Christmas shopping. That's going on the list too.
